Power BI DAX Course
Measures, filter context, CALCULATE, time intelligence and iterators - the calculation layer of Power BI.
View course →Build interactive, shareable reports end to end: connect to data, clean it, model it, write DAX measures and publish dashboards in Power BI Service.
Power BI is Microsoft’s business intelligence tool for turning data from many sources into interactive reports. Unlike a static spreadsheet, a Power BI report is driven by a data model: tables connected by relationships, with measures that recalculate as a user filters.
This course teaches that model-first way of working. You learn Power Query for preparation, star-schema modeling, DAX for calculations, visual design for clarity and Power BI Service for sharing. Learners with strong Excel skills move fastest, so if you are not there yet the Excel course is a good first step.
Power BI has three parts you will use: Power BI Desktop (where you build), the Power BI Service (where you publish and share) and mobile apps (where people view). Most of the learning is in Desktop - data, model, measures, visuals - and that is where the course spends most of its time.
Connect, clean and shape data from Excel, CSV, folders and databases using the same editor as Excel. Learn more.
Fact and dimension tables, one-to-many relationships and filter direction. Learn more.
CALCULATE, FILTER, time intelligence, and when to use a measure vs a column. Learn more.
Choose visuals, set up slicers, drill-through and tooltips. Learn more.
Publish reports, schedule refresh, create workspaces and apply row-level security basics.
Structure pages around questions, not charts.
Sales performance dashboard. Revenue, margin and target tracking by region and product.
Finance KPI report. P&L view with budget vs actual and variance measures.
HR analytics report. Headcount and attrition with drill-through to employee lists.
The program is taught module by module. Each module ends with a hands-on exercise built on business-style data.
Every concept is taught on a working file. You see the business question first - for example, "which regions missed target last quarter?" - and then build the formula, query or measure that answers it.
Each module closes with an exercise you complete yourself, followed by trainer feedback. Mistakes are part of the process: we cover the errors people actually hit, such as text-formatted numbers, broken lookups and wrong relationship direction.
Training files and practice datasets are provided so you can repeat every exercise after class.
Format. Instructor-led, practical sessions. Online, classroom and hybrid options are confirmed when you speak to us.
Batches. Upcoming batch dates are shared during counselling so you get current information. Ask for weekday, weekend or fast-track availability.
Certification. You receive a CharterPeak course completion certificate on completing the program and its assessments. This is not a Microsoft certification. If you want to prepare for a Microsoft exam such as PL-300, tell us and we will map the syllabus to the official skills outline.
Trainer names, backgrounds and areas taught are listed on our trainers page. Ask for a short demo class or a call with the trainer before you enrol.
We start from three Excel exports (sales, products, customers), clean them in Power Query, build a star schema with a date table, write measures for Revenue, Margin % and Revenue vs Target, and finish with a two-page report: an executive summary and a regional drill-down. You publish it to the Service and set up the refresh.
Yes, if you are comfortable with data in tables. The course starts with importing data and simple visuals before modeling and DAX.
Power BI Desktop is free to download. Publishing and sharing in Power BI Service needs a licence; your trainer will explain the options for learning and for work.
The syllabus covers most skills in the official PL-300 outline, but the course completion certificate is separate from Microsoft’s exam. Ask us if you want exam-focused practice.
Basic Excel is required. If you do not have it, begin with the Excel course or join the combined program.
Power BI Desktop is Windows-only. Mac users can use a Windows virtual machine or a Windows PC; ask us for options before enrolling.
Duration depends on the batch (weekday, weekend or fast-track). We confirm the schedule and total hours when you speak to us, so you get current information rather than a fixed number on a web page.
Students, graduates, working professionals and career changers. The prerequisites are listed on this page; if you are unsure, book a free counselling call and we will point you to the right starting course.
Yes. Each module is taught on working files with exercises you complete yourself, followed by trainer feedback and project work.
Delivery options depend on the batch. Ask about current online, offline and hybrid availability when you enquire.
You receive a CharterPeak completion certificate after finishing the program and its assessments. It is not a Microsoft certification and we do not promise exam results.
Fees depend on the batch and format and are shared on enquiry. See our refund policy before you enrol.
