Power BI Course
Power Query, data modeling, DAX, visuals, dashboards and Power BI Service - from first import to a published report.
View course →Most wrong numbers in Power BI come from the model, not the visuals. Learn to design models that give correct results and run fast.
A good model separates what happened (fact tables: sales, tickets, transactions) from the descriptions of it (dimension tables: customer, product, date). Relationships connect them, and filters flow from dimensions to facts.
This course teaches those ideas through the problems that appear in real projects: duplicates in a dimension, two date columns, many-to-many relationships and models that are slower than they should be.
Why one fact table surrounded by dimensions beats one wide flat table.
Grain, keys and what belongs where.
One-to-many, many-to-many, filter direction and inactive relationships.
Build and mark a proper date table for time intelligence.
Reduce column count, cardinality and model size; use Performance Analyzer.
How model design changes which measures are simple or hard.
Flat file to star schema. Rebuild a single wide Excel table as a model.
Multi-fact model. Sales and returns sharing common dimensions.
Model audit. Find and fix problems in a deliberately flawed model.
The program is taught module by module. Each module ends with a hands-on exercise built on business-style data.
Every concept is taught on a working file. You see the business question first - for example, "which regions missed target last quarter?" - and then build the formula, query or measure that answers it.
Each module closes with an exercise you complete yourself, followed by trainer feedback. Mistakes are part of the process: we cover the errors people actually hit, such as text-formatted numbers, broken lookups and wrong relationship direction.
Training files and practice datasets are provided so you can repeat every exercise after class.
Format. Instructor-led, practical sessions. Online, classroom and hybrid options are confirmed when you speak to us.
Batches. Upcoming batch dates are shared during counselling so you get current information. Ask for weekday, weekend or fast-track availability.
Certification. You receive a CharterPeak course completion certificate on completing the program and its assessments. This is not a Microsoft certification. If you want to prepare for a Microsoft exam such as PL-300, tell us and we will map the syllabus to the official skills outline.
Trainer names, backgrounds and areas taught are listed on our trainers page. Ask for a short demo class or a call with the trainer before you enrol.
A matrix shows regional revenue that does not add up to the grand total. The cause is a many-to-many relationship through a customer table with duplicate IDs. We clean the key, move to a one-to-many relationship, and the totals reconcile.
No. We explain keys and relationships from scratch using Excel-style examples.
It is the recommended default in Power BI because it is simple, fast and works well with DAX. We also show when a different design is justified.
No. The course uses Power BI and Power Query only.
It describes how rows relate across tables - for example one customer to many orders. Getting it wrong is the most common cause of incorrect totals.
Duration depends on the batch (weekday, weekend or fast-track). We confirm the schedule and total hours when you speak to us, so you get current information rather than a fixed number on a web page.
Students, graduates, working professionals and career changers. The prerequisites are listed on this page; if you are unsure, book a free counselling call and we will point you to the right starting course.
Yes. Each module is taught on working files with exercises you complete yourself, followed by trainer feedback and project work.
Delivery options depend on the batch. Ask about current online, offline and hybrid availability when you enquire.
You receive a CharterPeak completion certificate after finishing the program and its assessments. It is not a Microsoft certification and we do not promise exam results.
Fees depend on the batch and format and are shared on enquiry. See our refund policy before you enrol.
